Most Rev. Ruben Caballero Labajo, the New Auxillary Bishop of Cebu

Last June 23, Pope Francis appointed the then Msgr. Ruben Labajo as the new Auxiliary Bishop of the Archbishop of Cebu and as Titular Bishop of Abbir Maius.

Bishop Labajo is a native of Poblacion, Talisay City, Cebu born on September 24, 1966.

He finished his philosophy and theology at San Carlos Seminary College and at Seminario Mayor de San Carlos respecively. He was ordained as a priest on June 10, 1994 at the Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish.

He served as Parochial Vicar in Mandaue City for two years then was assigned Parish Priest in Santa Fe, Cebu from 1997 to 2006. He was Team Moderator at the St. Joseph the Worker Parish, Tabunok, Talisay City starting 2007 then became Moderator of the Team of Pastors in Cebu Metropolitan Cathedral in 2014.

Along with his duties in the different parishes, he was able to put up various projects and programs such as Stewardship Program and Multi-Coop & Livelihood Programs at Sto. Niño Parish in Sta Fe, Bantayan Island; Parish Educational Assistance Program at St. Joseph the Worker Parish Tabunok, City of Talisay; Creation of Cofradia de San Vidal and San Vitalis Parish Clinic at the Cebu Metropolitan Cathedral; Stewardship Fund for Charity Purposes at the Parroquia de San Francisco de Asis, Balamban, etc.

He became the Episcopal Vicar in 2017 in the First District of Metro Cebu and a member of the Board of Consultors and Presbyteral Council. He has been a Vicar General of the Archdiocese since 2019. Currently, he is serving as the Moderator of the Team of Pastors of the St. Francis of Assisi Parish in Balamban, Cebu which he holds since August 2019. Currently, he is the Spiritual Director of the Cebu Archdiocesan Marian Council.

His episcopal ordination is on August 19 at the Cebu Metropolitan Cathedral.
