My brothers and sisters in Christ, a good day to all of you!

I hope you are all safe, especially here in the Province of Cebu and within our Archdiocese.

I am Bishop Abet, and I am here in Daanbantayan, at the Shrine of Sta. Rosa de Lima, one of our parishes greatly affected by yesterday’s earthquake. I am thankful that no lives were lost here, unlike in other areas of Northern Cebu, where I mourn the tragic loss of many. As your Archbishop of Cebu, I call on everyone to extend help in any way possible to support the survivors of this disaster.

First of all, as a Church, our primary response is spiritual: 1. Pray for the victims and their families; 2. Visit and spend time with grieving families, listening to them can greatly ease their worries and fears.

Beyond spiritual support, we can also extend assistance through financial aid. I urge everyone, especially across our parishes, to join in our fundraising efforts. I have instructed our Team Moderators to lead this campaign. We will implement an “Adopt-a-Parish” initiative, where parishes that were unaffected will support those that were impacted, enabling us to efficiently mobilize aid to those in need.

Please keep posted through our official channels.

Once again, this is Bishop Abet, standing with you in this difficult time, steadfast in faith, for the Lord is always with us. Thank you and good day, everyone!
