Manila, Philippines — In commemoration of the 40th anniversary of the EDSA People Power Revolution, the Jesuit Music Ministry (JMM), under Jesuit Communications (JesCom), will release a new EP titled Pag-aalaala, a musical reflection on faith, freedom, and the enduring call to nation-building.

Set for a staggered digital release beginning February 13, 2026, Pag-aalaala revisits the spirit of EDSA through prayerful song—remembering how faith sustained a people through struggle, and how that same faith continues to challenge Filipinos to discern the meaning of freedom today.

The release schedule is as follows:

  • February 13 – Bagong Kinabukasan, performed by Noel Cabangon

  • February 20 – Kalye, by Toto Sorioso with Bukas Palad Music Ministry and Hangad

  • February 23 – Full EP release on digital streaming platforms

Additional tracks to be released on February 23 include:

  • Pilipinas, Aking Inang Bayan – Bukas Palad Music Ministry

  • Ahon Na – Noel Cabangon and Gab Cabangon

  • Pag-aalaala (Grand Choir) – featuring over 100 voices with special participation from

Lucas, Bituin Escalante, Floyd Tena, Michael Shimamoto, Darwin Lomentigar, Eumee

Capili, Poppert Bernadas and Noel Cabangon

At the heart of the EP is Pag-aalaala, originally composed by acclaimed Jesuit composer Fr. Manoling V. Francisco, SJ, to honor the peaceful courage that brought about the 1986

revolution. Long sung in liturgical gatherings across the country, the hymn is reimagined for 2026 at a time when the nation once again seeks moral clarity, unity, and hope grounded in faith.

Selections from the EP will be performed at various EDSA anniversary events. On February 25, 2026, schools, parishes, and civic organizations will converge at the EDSA Shrine and People Power Monument for the Tayo ang People Power gatherings, where the songs will be featured.

The EP release coincides with JesCom’s ongoing social media campaign, in collaboration with other Catholic media groups and influencers, under the theme “Tayo ang People Power.” The campaign emphasizes that People Power is not merely a historical moment, but an ongoing movement and shared responsibility to work for a more just and humane society.

Through Pag-aalaala, JesCom and JMM reaffirm their mission of media evangelization and education—using music as a pathway for remembrance, discernment, and renewed commitment to faith and nation.
