Davao City -- Archbishop Romulo “Muloy” Valles, D.D., of San Pedro Cathedral celebrates his Golden Sacerdotal Anniversary last April 6. The celebration was extended today, April 10, 2026, graced with the presence of Most Rev. Charles John Brown, Apostolic Nuncio to the Philippines, 3 cardinals, 46 bishops, and 76 priests during the Eucharistic Celebration at 9:00 AM.

The 75-year-old archbishop was ordained in the year 1976 and, historically, is the 1st Filipino diocesan priest from Mati, which was then under the Diocese of Tagum.
“He must increase, we must decrease” is the guiding principle of Archbishop Muloy, a quote from St. John the Baptist. He emphasized the importance of humility and grace as the real essence of service.
For years, he served various dioceses, parishes, seminaries, and communities. He touched the lives of many who are simply blessed by his presence. On Yangong Muloy’s 50 years in service, he proves both dedication and commitment as a vicar of Christ.
Archbishop Valles was the president of the Catholic Bishops' Conference of the Philippines from 2017 to 2021. He was the former Archbishop of Zamboanga before being appointed as Archbishop of Davao.
Happy anniversary, Archbishop!
