ACDMA 2026: The First-Ever Asian Catholic Digital Missionary Assembly

Four days.

Many countries.

Countless stories.

And one beautiful reminder:

We may live in a digital world, but we were made for ENCOUNTER.

Technology has made the world smaller.

Messages cross oceans.

Voices reach thousands.

Stories travel farther than our feet ever could.

With a screen, we can reach someone

on the other side of the world in seconds.

We can share a message.

Start a conversation.

Tell a story.

Build a community.

The world is more connected than it has ever been.

And yet...

sometimes,

the closer we become, the farther apart we feel.

Because connection is not always the same as encounter.

A message is not a handshake.

A profile is not a person.

A view is not a relationship.

And perhaps, our calling as digital missionaries begins here...

in the very spaces where countless hearts

are searching, listening, and longing for hope.

Perhaps, we are called to be bridges.

A bridge carries.

A bridge connects.

It stands between two sides

and makes a way for people to reach one another.

It does not always get noticed.

Sometimes, it simply bears the weight

so that someone else can reach the other side.

Maybe that is our calling, too.

To build bridges between the digital and the human.

Between a story shared online

and a life changed in the real world.

Between someone searching for hope

and someone ready to offer it.

Between a screen and a soul.

Because no digital content

can fully carry the beauty of a story told firsthand.

There is something different about sitting across from someone.

Looking into their eyes.

Hearing their voice.

Listening to the pauses between their words.

Feeling their joy.

Their pain.

Their hope.

When we meet face to face, we stop seeing a profile.

We see a person.

A heart.

A story.

A child of God.

And that changes everything.

Because suddenly, they are no longer just someone

we reached through a screen.

They are someone we have encountered.

Someone whose story has become part of ours.

Technology is a gift.

It gives us reach.

It gives us a voice.

It gives us a way to cross borders

without ever boarding a plane.

But the screen is not where the journey ends.

It is a bridge.

A doorway.

A starting point.

It should lead us beyond the digital

and back to the beauty of real encounter.

Because the things that matter most

are often the things no algorithm can ever discover.

Stories no database can contain.

Encounters no AI can truly replicate.

Some of life’s most beautiful things never make it to a screen...

They bloom quietly in the moments unfolding right before us.

So let us keep building bridges.

Keep telling stories.

Keep reaching through the screen.

But may we never forget to reach beyond it.

Because behind every screen...

is a person waiting to be seen, heard, welcomed, and loved.

And perhaps that is the Heart of Our Mission:

to use TECHNOLOGY to CONNECT PEOPLE,

but to use ENCOUNTER to CONNECT HEARTS.
