Pope Francis on Sunday, May 29, 2022, named 21 new cardinals.
Sixteen are cardinal electors under 80 years old and thus eligible to enter a conclave to elect his successor after his death or resignation.
Among those tapped by the pontiff to receive the prestigious red hat will be two prelates from India and one each from Mongolia, Ghana, Nigeria, Singapore, East Timor, Paraguay, and Brazil.
